Mr. Bryan Penn

I got my start in education at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School after graduating from the University of Utah with a degree is History and geography. I was the 8th grade teacher for 7 years teaching religion and social studies to 6 th -8 th grade. I moved to St. John the Baptist Middle School where I have taught Religion, Social Studies and various electives 8 years. During my time as an educator, I have realized that, after their parents, teachers are the most influential adults in young peoples’ lives. Good teachers make a big difference. I love helping students develop skills to become the best they can be. I also enjoy doing the same for teachers. To help me improve my skills, I completed a Master of Science in Educational Leadership degree in 2012 from Western Governors University and received my Utah Administrators license the same year.  I have had the honor to lead the dedicated staff at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, for the last 11 years. I LOVE Blessed Sacrament Church and School. Blessed Sacrament provides many opportunities for students to grow academically, socially and spiritually.  I will work hard to cultivate a school culture and develop instructional programs that provide children with the skills that they need, guided by the Gospel values of Jesus Christ.

My message to students and parents is to emulate Jesus in LOVE and SERVICE.  For students, this means to play an active role in their education and to treat themselves and others like Jesus taught us.  Things worth having are often the things we must work hardest for.  Parents and families show LOVE for each other as they strive to make the other the best they can be. The best way to do this is as a role model for others. Jesus and his Mother provide us with models we can emulate. SERVICE opportunities are everywhere in our school and Parish. We have an active Home and School Association, school board, athletics program, and other activities. Community activities strengthen the connection we all share.  Event times and dates can be found on our website, Facebook, calendar, or on our marquee in front of the school.

Personally, I am married to the most amazing woman, Karen. She has put up with me for the past 34 years! We have two children, Katie, who teaches Special Education in Canyons School District, as well as coaching volleyball and basketball her at BSCS and a son, James, who is in working on a degree in data science at the U. My Faith and family are what drive me. When not doing something at school, we enjoy skiing, camping, fishing, movies, the Utah Shakespeare Festival and friends. I welcome communication with parents and our Blessed Sacrament community.  I encourage you to contact the terrific teachers here, our staff, and of course, me!

Peace and Blessings,

Bryan Penn, MS.Ed.L.
