Hello Lovely Pre-K Students!
In Prekindergarten children emerge into a half day of learning. In their second year of school children build on their preschool foundations of letter formation and motor skills. Students also learn how to make friends, tell stories, and learn reading formations. Some curriculum highlights include:
- Exploring the world through nature walks and gardening
- Develop gross motor skills though stomping, dancing, and tumbling
- Counting on and letter recognition
Pre-K is in session Monday-Friday from 8am-11:30am with after-school care available.
MEET YOUR TEACHERS
Mrs. Jean Spicer
Mrs. Spicer has spent many years in the education field. She started out as a school secretary with Granite School District and absolutely loved working with the children. She says she also worked with some of the finest teachers and administrators and learned a lot!
Young children are so eager to learn everything. And also, recess was very fun because the children always tell you fun stories about what is going on in their lives.
The school and community here at Blessed Sacrament are so unique. Everyone is so caring and loving and I love the children! I feel so blessed to be teaching the Pre-K (4 year old) class. The children are like my own grandchildren, very special and so eager to learn! Children are the future of our world and I feel so blessed to be a part of helping them to grow and learn.
Mrs. Karla Vela
Classroom Aide
Mrs. Vela was born in Mexico City and worked with children from 4 to 12 years old in pedagogical courses. She studied psychology, Bible study, and Religious Pastoral. She is currently studying for a degree in pedagogy, and continues her Pastoral studies. She came to Utah for her husband’s job, and they moved from Murray to Sandy to be close to the Church. She feels as if God gave her a double gift by allowing their son to attend the third grade at Blessed Sacrament as well as being on the staff.
For her, working with children is a blessing and a great responsibility because, “they are small seeds that are being formed, therefore, if we manage to reinforce their values, help them to know their virtues and work in their areas of opportunity, we will be contributing to have a better future.”
As Jesus Christ tells us: “See that you never despise any of these little ones, for I tell you that their angels in heaven are continually in the presence of my Father in heaven.” (Mt. 18:10)
She likes to walk, read religious topics, and watch science fiction TV shows and movies, She speaks Spanish and loves being able to see the beautiful mountains that surround us every day.
I thank God and you for this opportunity to give the best of myself to each one of these little ones so that they can know the best of themselves.
