French

Bienvenue au cours de français! Blessed Sacrament offersFrench as our foreign language program in conjunction with Mrs. Anne Lalonde. Students are invited to learn real-word vocabulary, conversational skills, and French history in this unique opportunity. Mrs. Lalonde looks forward on getting the basics of the language down through fun skits, pneumonic devices, videos, and songs, as well as more traditional methods. As someone who was born in the French region of Canada she has a passion for the language, the people, and the country as a whole.

Music

Our music program is full of opportunities to sing, play, and dance. All of the students will learn how to sing liturgical songs for our Masses.

We know the importance of introducing young children to a variety of instruments, choral arrangements, and styles of music to enhance their educational experience. Students from Kindergarten to 8th Grade regularly attend formal music class. Patience, confidence, and improved memory are some benefits of learning music. In our program, we love making joyful noises unto the Lord.

Art

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School’s art program is for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. The program aims to foster an environment of creativity and freedom of expression where students develop a sense of pride, confidence, and satisfaction in their own work.

Throughout the school year, all students have the opportunity to express their creativity using various mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and three-dimensional work.  Art from various cultures and time periods will be introduced and discussed with all grades as will the influence of religion in art.

Physical Education

Blessed Sacrament’s Physical Education program is designed to safely place students in-game situations that will challenge them physically, allow them to develop strategies to improve teamwork and help them resolve internal and external conflict in situations of friendly competition- all while developing an understanding for good sportsmanship.

Now, more than ever, with the increasing tendency for students to sit and play internet games or go on social media during free time, it is vital for them to be active during PE.

For PreK-8th grades, the program offers the following phases:
1) Warm-up/stretch phase – to properly loosen muscle tissue and increase blood flow to the heart and prepare the body for activity, while getting students to learn about the science of movement (kinesiology), anatomy, and physiology.
2) Activity phase – a variety of games designed to develop/improve cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, strength, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness around others, and teamwork.
3) Cooldown phase – to allow students to reflect on what they learned and how they performed.

The program utilizes a myriad of gym equipment to construct obstacle courses, team relays, organized scrimmages (basketball, volleyball, hockey, kickball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball), yoga, etc
