Fifth Grade
In Fifth Grade students begin their journey into independence and personal responsibility. They learn skills to help them create study guides, fact-check their research, engineer new devices, give engaging speeches, and constructively debate their peers. The curriculum contains challenging and enriching topics such as United States History and the Scientific Method. Curriculum highlights include:
- The Revolutionary and Civil Wars
- Fractions, decimals, and geometry
- Early explorers and Great American Heroes

Wax Museum

In Fifth Grade, students put on a Living Wax Museum where they dress up as famous individuals and freeze like a statue until promoted to present to members of our school and community. Each student represents a different “Great American Hero” these are all figures the students recognize as making a large positive impact in the world. Past figures that have been represented include Susan B. Anthony, Creola Katherine Johnson, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

MEET YOUR TEACHER

Ms. Carly Winslow
Carly Winslow joins Blessed Sacrament Catholic School for the 2026–2027 school year, bringing more than 15 years of experience as a professional educator. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Southern Utah University and holds a Professional Educator License from the State of Utah.
Prior to joining Blessed Sacrament, Mrs. Winslow taught in the Salt Lake City School District for 15 years. She believes that teaching is her God-given calling and is passionate about sharing the love of learning with each new generation. One of her greatest joys as an educator is helping students recognize their unique gifts and realize their true potential.
Before pursuing a career in education, Mrs. Winslow studied theater and stage acting. While in college, she worked in an elementary school and quickly discovered that teaching was the path she was meant to follow. She changed her major to education and has never looked back.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Winslow enjoys reading, culinary arts and patisserie, opera, jazz, theater, gardening—especially growing roses—learning languages, art, theology, and spending time in service to others. She also enjoys daily tea time and challenging herself with Wordle.
Her favorite quote is by Mother Teresa of Calcutta:
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.”
Mrs. Winslow values strong partnerships between school and home and believes communication is essential to student success. She encourages families to be active participants in their child’s educational journey and welcomes communication through classroom tools such as ClassDojo throughout the school year.
