French
Bienvenue au cours de français! Blessed Sacrament offers French as our foreign language program in conjunction with Ms. Johnson. Students are invited to learn real-word vocabulary, conversational skills, and French history in this unique opportunity. Ms. Johnson looks forward on getting the basics of the language down through fun skits, pneumonic devices, videos, and songs, as well as more traditional methods.

Music

Our music program is full of opportunities to sing, play, and dance. All of the students will learn how to sing liturgical songs for our Masses.
We know the importance of introducing young children to a variety of instruments, choral arrangements, and styles of music to enhance their educational experience. Students from Kindergarten to 8th Grade regularly attend formal music class. Patience, confidence, and improved memory are some benefits of learning music. In our program, we love making joyful noises unto the Lord.
Mrs. Kayla Waghorn attended Northern Arizona University, where she studied Anthropology and Music. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she spent two years teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) through music immersion programs in South Korea. She then moved to South Africa, where she earned a Master of Arts in Sociology, studying non-profit development work in rural Zimbabwe. She worked in rural Zimbabwe teaching high school environmental science and geography, and building non-profit educational development programs in rural schools, working at the school and district levels. Since returning to the USA, she has enjoyed being home with her two children, working part time directing children’s music programming and teaching elementary music through church, teaching private guitar lessons, and volunteering as an elementary school choir director.
Mrs. Waghorn has a deep passion for teaching and performing music, and musical composition. She has performed her original folk music in festivals, coffee shops, and night clubs all over the world, including Utah, Montana, Arizona, South Korea, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. She also loves singing in a choir, particularly the deep spiritual connections experienced through sacred choral music.
Mrs. Waghorn is a proud mother of two children, wife of an English teacher, and lover of nature and all things outdoors. Her family enjoys getting off the beaten path, hiking, skiing, exploring, camping, peak-bagging, and travelling.

Art

Blessed Sacrament Catholic School’s art program is for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade. The program aims to foster an environment of creativity and freedom of expression where students develop a sense of pride, confidence, and satisfaction in their own work.
Throughout the school year, all students have the opportunity to express their creativity using various mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and three-dimensional work. Art from various cultures and time periods will be introduced and discussed with all grades as will the influence of religion in art.
Our talented young artists are busy under the guidance of Mrs. Bleak, who enters their work in the Sandy Arts Guild Art Competition. We are thrilled to share that many of our students were recognized in 2025 for their outstanding art creations, showcasing their creativity and hard work. We are so proud of the incredible talent within our school community!
Woz-Ed Stem Curriculum
At Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, we are proud to offer the Woz ED STEM curriculum, a hands-on, project-based program designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills in every student. Developed by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Woz ED brings real-world STEM concepts to life through engaging lessons in robotics, coding, engineering, and technology.
Our students collaborate across grade levels, working in small groups to explore, design, test, and refine their ideas. This unique approach not only deepens their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math, but also strengthens teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
Through the Woz ED pathway, students progress through multiple levels of learning, building confidence and preparing for a future where innovation, adaptability, and critical thinking are essential. At Blessed Sacrament, we believe STEM education should be exciting, meaningful, and accessible to all learners—and Woz ED makes that possible.

Physical Education

Blessed Sacrament’s Physical Education program is designed to safely place students in-game situations that will challenge them physically, allow them to develop strategies to improve teamwork and help them resolve internal and external conflict in situations of friendly competition- all while developing an understanding for good sportsmanship.
Now, more than ever, with the increasing tendency for students to sit and play internet games or go on social media during free time, it is vital for them to be active during PE.
For PreK-8th grades, the program offers the following phases:
1) Warm-up/stretch phase – to properly loosen muscle tissue and increase blood flow to the heart and prepare the body for activity, while getting students to learn about the science of movement (kinesiology), anatomy, and physiology.
2) Activity phase – a variety of games designed to develop/improve cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, strength, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness around others, and teamwork.
3) Cooldown phase – to allow students to reflect on what they learned and how they performed.
The program utilizes a myriad of gym equipment to construct obstacle courses, team relays, organized scrimmages (basketball, volleyball, hockey, kickball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball), yoga, etc
