Welcome to Kindergarten!

Kindergarten students embark on their first full day of schooling, forming foundational habits and the building blocks of knowledge for years to come. Students learn through experimentation, trial, and error. We place a large focus on students sharing, collaborating with others, and using critical thinking to solve problems. The kindergarten curriculum places special emphasis on

  • reading readiness
  • letter formation
  • emotional regulation
  • forming creativity

Student’s leave Kindergarten feeling empowered for their future learning, taking all the skills they’ve learned on to first grade and beyond!

No family is asked to pay more than they can afford.

Mrs. Deborah Shinkaruk-Hobbs

Mrs. Shinkaruk-Hobbs is a dedicated educator who works hard to establish a happy, challenging, comfortable, and safe learning environment where everyone can do their personal best. She is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to engage and motivate her students, and in kindergarten, she will be incorporating technology into her morning meetings.

She began teaching at Blessed Sacrament in 2017. Before teaching in the US, she lived in Canada where she taught High School for 18 years and was a Department Head for 7 years. She carries two degrees; a Bachelor of Arts (Theatre and Psychology) and a Bachelor of Education (Theatre and Special Education), both earned at the University of Alberta, Canada.

She has been married to her husband for 26 glorious years, and together, they love taking care of their two dogs and turtle. She has three fantastic children who are ages 25, 23, and 21. All three of them are attending or have graduated from the University of Utah. Outside of teaching she enjoys spending time with her family at their Canadian cabin on the lake or swimming in her pool.

“I look forward to working together with you as partners in your child’s growth and development.”
