English and Language Arts
English and Language Arts is taught through the series, Voyages, by Loyola Press. Through this series, students focus on grammar, types of sentences, understanding parts of speech, and correct punctuation.
Lessons culminate with beginning diagramming. Students complete writing projects throughout the year, exemplifying their understanding of writing traits and how to write in different formats. Students explore poetry, creative writing, formal reports, and practice cursive.
On Wednesday’s in language arts, we participate in reading centers. Reading centers are very fun because I learn new things. We play games involving language arts like an idiom board games.
We also write fun stories. One story we had to explain our favorite body part. I wrote about my eyes and had to be very descriptive. Language arts is fun because I like creative writing.
